On Thursday, August 28th, on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, Barack Obama will officially accept the Democratic nomination for president.
It'll be one of the biggest political moments in a generation.
So we're holding "Yes We Can" Parties that night. We'll watch the historic speech, celebrate with desserts and ice cream, and unveil MoveOn's big fall plan to elect Barack.
If you plan to watch the speech, can you host a party to bring together the Obama supporters in your neighborhood? All you need is a TV and a phone or computer. Just click here to get started:
If you sign up to host, we'll make sure you have all the materials you'll need. You can keep your party private and invite your friends—or make it public, and we'll email other MoveOn members in your area to help build a crowd. We'll even ask the folks who come to bring the ice cream and sweets.
At the parties, we'll watch Obama's speech and join a nationwide conference call launching our huge election plan for the fall. You just need to be sure that you'll have access to a speakerphone or a computer with sound that's loud enough for everybody to hear. Though the schedule hasn't been finalized, Obama will likely speak around 10 p.m. ET/ 9 CT/ 8 MT/ 7 PT.
His "Audacity of Hope" speech at the Democratic convention four years ago electrified the country. Now Senator Obama is back on an even bigger stage—this time as a presidential candidate—and this year's speech promises to be even better.
You won't want to watch it alone. Can you share it with other MoveOn members by hosting a party? Please click here to get started:
Hope you can help!
